"Heart-warming rains"

1st time ever for the past 30 years plus, i'm celebrating Chinese New Years in such a bad weather. It literally rained every single day. Most of the Sibu town area were flooded during the CNY 2009.

Complaints can be heard easily everywhere. What else but praising "the most efficient hard working government in the whole wide world"?

The rain & the flood certainly have stopped many of us from visiting friends & relatives during the festival. From the tone of my writing, you might suggest that what a boring Chinese New Year it was, isn't it?

Nevertheless, I personally felt that it was a very warm Chinese New Year. Those may have prevented us from going out to visit. On the other hand, it gave us ample of time for those living under the same roof "revisit" among each other. Getting to know each other better. Share more, listen more, care more & love more...... They are the closet people to me in this world. Wife, mom, brothers & sisters in law, & of course not forgetting my favorite playmates-my nieces.

There are a lot of heart warming moments to share. This time around i share with you a video clip that was recorded by my 3rd elder brother during the Sarawak Clan Sii annual dinner held in Sibu on the Jan 31st 2009. It was a performance by my only younger brother-Ah Yew. This take was actually a 3rd or 4th take. Forgot the lyrics. NG too many times so he requested to "take a bow" & leave the stage temporally. Wrote down the lyrics & practiced few more times before taking on a 2nd chance.

My eldest niece carrying the lyrics for him, 3rd elder brother doing video recording for him & i taking pictures for him. Others, they played an equally important role-spectators. NG, never mind. We gave him support. We cheered him up. Given a 2nd chance, we believed he can do it. That's what family for, isn't it?

There's another surprise there in the clip. Watch it yourselves. If you wonder, that's my 4th elder brother's daughter. Enjoy the clip. Happy Chinese New Year!

All those pictures above were all taken in April this year with my previous Nikon D200 body. Ever since i got my Nikon D3, i almost never touch "my ex-girlfriend" anymore.

She's must be very sad sitting alone in the dry cabinet. Nevertheless, she did capture a lot of unforgettable moments for me. Thanks, honey!

Camera is just a camera. Dummy machine. It's a tool that helps us to accomplish what we want to achieve. Bring back all these "old photos" back to PC screen, i find them don't looked bad at all.

I like them a lot, may be simply because of the people in the pictures. They are my most important women in my life. 1 gave birth to me & raised me up. 1 gave birth to my lovely wife & raised her up. And last but not the least, my little angel, beautiful wife, who gave me the meaning of life & complete my life with lots of love.

Best birthday present for a kid

San Ge, my 3rd elder brother called up few days ago & asked me why "your" mother laughed so cheerfully during my little brother's convocation? Wait, isn't my mom, her mom too?

That's the way we communicate(6 brothers, no sister). We like to joke to each other. Speaking of which, i'm already can't wait for our Chinese New Year reunion already. However, it's a pitty that Si Ge (Forth elder brother) won't be able to join us.

Last week i met with a loving family that are close to each other as well. Sweet encounter! Engaged by them to cover a small kid's birthday party.

U Graduate's Outdoor Portraits

Did some outdoor shots right after the convocation ceremony & group shots session. Just got a little bit of time only. 2 elders & 3 seniors were waiting for us. Lots of pressure. Being chased by them to hurry up. After all, it was almost 1:30pm already. Everybody felt hungry.

Don't you fooled by the photos. My beloved little brother-he is a very good basketball player. Also a Sacred Heart Secondary School's volleyball player. But somehow, he just missed it...???

My beloved brother's convocation

Ah Yew is now officially an university graduate. A civil engineer. Glad to be able to attend his convocation back in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. It was a nice one. Also, glad that my wife was able to follow me there as Airasia still got seats available as late as the 10th Aug 2008, around 10pm plus. My flight is an early morning flight, 6:55am from Senai Airport. So, imagine that. It was a surprise that she can still join in. A nice surprise though.

Woke up 3:30am early in the morning as we need to travel from Singapore to Johor, Malaysia to catch the flight. Got it, brother? We suffer this just for you. But once we arrived at Kuching airport, we never regret for even a second. Arrived around 8:20am, Ah Yew was there to welcome us already. Really didn't expect this as he supposed to pick Er Ge (2nd elder brother) up around 10am. Where as mom & Da Ge (Eldest brother) is to arrive around 12 noon in another flight. What a family support we are giving to our little brother. Youngest in our family. That's what a family for, right?

Enough saying, now i'd like to share with you some photos taken at the convocation.

Singapore NDP 08 (National Day Parade)

Singapore's national day falls on 9th of August. This year i got an invitation from a friend of mine to celebrate national day at his place. A high-floored unit in Aljunied area. Nice city view.

So, naturally a photographer's reaction came into my mind - great chance to take nice photos. Therefore, i bring my Nikon D3 & Nikkor AFS 24-70mm f/2.8, Sigma HSM 100-300mm f/4 & a 1.4x tele-converter for the assignment. Not the best combination i must admit. But, what to do? No $ for those exotic Nikkor tele lenses yet.

Share with you some of the shots taken that night. Processed from the Jpeg files. Although i got the NEF files (Nikon's RAW file). Simply lazy. So, i hope the quality is good enough for your viewing.

The last shot is to capture the smoke generated by the fireworks. Different city mood. Like the Singapore city being moved to Genting Highland. In the midst of the clouds.

These photos were taken as to remember the birth of my photography blogging. It's a rainy day. Luckily it's a non working day-Saturday. Just as lucky is that all of our clothes are dry except the jeans that you can see in the following picture.

For the sake of my wedding & honeymoon, I decided to buy a camera. To my wife's surprise, I said I want to buy a S$3000 camera body, without any lenses some more. Nikon D200. This was suggested by someone without any photography skills at all. So ambitious & it was so tough to get my wife's blessing over this. I want to thank my wife for letting me to make my own decision although she wasn't that happy with the decision back then. The spending didn't just stop there of course. That was about 2 years ago. 1 year & 11 months later...... As a small kid in photography terms, I really enjoy the view through the lens. This shot was taken by a D200 & 85mm f/1.4 combination. Wide open at f/1.4. It's a banana tree's leaf. Back in my hometown-Sibu during my 1st week with my camera.
